Red Frogs is a support program for young people to provide positive peer presence in alcohol-fuelled environments. They educate young people on safe partying behaviours and promote alcohol-free activities that engage young people in these environments. Gert Jansen van Rensburg has been volunteering with Red Frogs for over 10 years at the annual schoolies on the Gold Coast. Every year volunteers make their way to the heart of Surfers Paradise, providing student support and a hotline that has been credited with saving lives and preventing innumerable dangerous situations.
During Gert’s time volunteering, he has helped to move Red Frogs into the digital age, streamlining their systems and processes. He has continued to ensure all data and stats are accurate and ready for authorities when needed for quick responses to emergency situations. His ideas and technical skill have helped shape the way Red Frogs communicate with the next generation.
