A senior consultant's perspective
Once a year, Pivots from across Australia and New Zealand come together to step away from client work, reconnect with each other, and spend time thinking about the future of our business. This year's Summit, held in the brand-new function space at the aptly named 'The Summit Restaurant & Bar' in Brisbane, was packed with memorable moments, but three stood above the rest.
The first was hearing about SixPivot’s pro bono work on the Bamboo Perinatal Support app.

Solution Spotlight: Project Bamboo
We often talk about how technology changes lives, and Bamboo is doing exactly that. The app connects new and expecting mothers in rural areas or isolated communities with mentors and support networks during one of the most significant periods of their lives. Hearing firsthand about the impact the platform is having, and the role SixPivot has played in helping bring it to life, was a reminder that our work extends well beyond commercial outcomes. It's easy to get caught up in sprint boards and deadlines, but projects like Bamboo show what can happen when technical expertise is applied to solving genuinely human problems.
The second highlight came in a format we don't often see at company events: a formal debate.
The Great AI Debate
Complete with timed speeches, rebuttals and closing arguments, teams argued opposing views on how artificial intelligence should shape SixPivot’s future. Rather than defaulting to the consultant’s favourite answer of “it depends”, the format forced everyone to take a position and defend it.
The result wasn't about deciding who was objectively right. It was about exploring ideas, challenging assumptions, and creating space for genuine discussion about one of the biggest changes currently affecting our industry. It was engaging, thought-provoking and at times, highly entertaining.
The third standout was our 'Stories From the Field' session.

Stories From the Field
Consultants shared experiences from recent client engagements, covering challenges they faced, lessons learned, and moments that changed how they approach their work. Rather than leaving the stories as presentations, we split into smaller working groups to unpack them together. It turned individual experiences into shared knowledge, ensuring lessons learned on one project could benefit everyone.
Around these headline moments were the conversations that continue to shape SixPivot as a business. Our ELT provided an open update on company performance and the direction for the year ahead, giving everyone visibility into where we're headed and why.
Continuously Enhancing Our Award-Winning Culture
We also spent time discussing culture through anonymous live polling, gathering honest feedback on topics including remote work and how we use Slack. The goal wasn’t to chase consensus but to better understand the values and preferences of the people who make SixPivot what it is.
As always, one of the most rewarding parts of the day came from recognising each other. Team members nominated colleagues for shout-outs, sharing stories of people who had quietly gone above and beyond. Whether helping teammates, supporting clients or making life easier for those around them, these moments highlighted the generosity and collaboration that define our culture.

That's a Wrap on Summit 2026
Summit is more than an annual catch-up. It’s an opportunity to celebrate meaningful work, learn from each other’s experiences and tackle difficult questions together. This year's event reinforced something that has always been true at SixPivot: our greatest strength isn't just the technology we build; it's the people willing to share, challenge, support and learn from one another.
I'm already looking forward to Summit 2027!
