Introducing AIly: The AI Discovery Platform We Built to Solve Our Own Problem

We built AIly because we had a problem.

Every AI discovery engagement at SixPivot started the same way: Miro boards, Word documents, spreadsheets, and email threads scattered across the place. One consultant's approach looked different from another's. And moving from workshop to final recommendation? That meant manually rebuilding everything, often taking weeks.

We tried the usual solutions. Documentation portals helped a bit. Brown-bag sessions kept people informed… sort of. Project updates circulated on Slack. But each solution created yet another data source for people to monitor, another place where critical information might live. Unless someone already knew exactly where to look, finding information was nearly impossible.

It turns out we weren't alone. Recent research from Moxie Insights reveals that while 93% of Australian leadership teams favour AI initiatives, only 62% actively drive organisational change from the top. The enthusiasm is there, but the execution frameworks aren't.

The Build vs. Buy Decision

We looked at existing options. Workshop canvases (for example, Miro) are excellent for capturing raw inputs, but they don’t enforce structure. Documentation tools (for example, Notion, Confluence, or Word) can produce a polished output, but they don’t solve the consistency of the inputs. Delivery tools (for example, Jira, Azure DevOps, or Monday.com) help you execute once you’ve decided what to do, but they are not designed to run structured discovery. We needed a purpose-built layer that turns workshop artefacts into a consistent discovery model that can be validated, refined, and reported on.

The research backs this up: organisations are actively prioritising AI discovery work over the next 6-12 months. 77% are working to define clear AI business objectives, 73% are developing AI strategies and roadmaps, and 71% are identifying high-impact use cases. But without structured approaches, each organisation, and often each team within organisations, starts from scratch.

We needed something purpose-built for discovery work: structured frameworks that guide the process, AI-assisted features to speed up documentation, auto-generated reports from structured data, and client collaboration without endless email loops.

So, we made a different choice: build a platform that does exactly what we need for AI and automation discovery. Own it completely, from the methodology to the user experience, so we can refine it based on real consulting work rather than vendor roadmaps.

What AIly Actually Does

AIly structures AI and automation discovery work in one place. Instead of rebuilding process maps and use cases after every workshop, it captures everything in a consistent framework that turns directly into recommendations. For organisations running AI or automation discovery, this means:

Structured frameworks that guide discovery work from journeys → pain points → opportunities → use cases. No more starting from scratch every engagement.

Collaborative platform where your team maps processes and identifies opportunities at their own pace, while SixPivot consultants provide expert analysis and strategic validation.

Auto-generated recommendations from structured data, eliminating the weeks of manual reconstruction between workshop and final deliverable.

A living model accessible through an interactive web interface, not another static PDF that's out of date the moment you share it.

Proven in Our Own Practice

We didn't build AIly in isolation and then try to sell it. We built it to solve SixPivot's own challenge, proved it works on our consulting practice, and only then decided to make it available to others, for free.

Our consultants used to approach discovery differently every time. One person's Miro board looked nothing like another's. Workshop outputs lived in different formats. Moving from workshop to client recommendation meant manually reformatting everything. What should have taken days took weeks.

This challenge isn't unique to SixPivot. According to Moxie Insights, 58% of organisations cite cross-functional collaboration for AI initiatives as needing improvement. Only 42% report that AI projects are fully cross-functional through a unified strategy. The rest struggle with isolated departmental efforts or limited collaboration, exactly the pattern we experienced.

The measurement gap is just as significant. Only 41% of Australian organisations have a systematic process for measuring and analysing AI performance. Another 39% assess initiatives periodically with a few key metrics, while 14% evaluate projects inconsistently. Without clear frameworks for capturing and tracking discovery work, proving value becomes nearly impossible.

With AIly, we follow the same proven methodology every time. We capture client journeys, pain points, and opportunities in structured data. The platform auto-generates narrative reports while maintaining a version history for comparisons between the current and future states. Clients receive an interactive web interface that allows them to review, comment, and view glossary definitions without modifying the underlying structure.

The impact is measurable: faster turnaround from workshop to recommendation, more consistent outputs regardless of which consultant runs the engagement, and patterns identified across clients that we can turn into reusable IP.

A Universal Problem

Here's the thing: the problem AIly solves isn't unique to SixPivot.

Organisations across industries struggle with the same challenge when running discovery work. Whether it's AI opportunity assessment, digital transformation planning, or process automation mapping, the outputs end up scattered. Workshop facilitators use different approaches. Documentation lives on Miro boards that no one can find six months later. Feedback cycles occur via email, with tracked changes in Word documents.

The data tells the story clearly. Only 46% of Australian organisations have a comprehensive AI strategy aligned with business objectives. Another 33% have defined strategies limited to specific departments. The remaining 21% either prioritise AI but lack a formal strategy or have no formal strategy at all.

Consultancies face an even bigger challenge: how do you deliver consistent discovery quality when every consultant has their own method? How do you capture learnings from one engagement and apply them to the next? How do you turn discovery work from artisanal craft into a repeatable, scalable service?

When selecting partners for AI initiatives, organisations are explicit about what they need. 56% want partners who can manage end-to-end AI projects from strategy to implementation. 46% seek partners who can provide comprehensive AI and tech solutions. What top partner types are they looking for? Specialist AI vendors (46%), business advisory and consultancy firms (42%), and data specialists (37%).

These organisations aren't just looking for tools; they're looking for methodology, structure, and proven approaches that eliminate the "starting from scratch" problem.

AIly addresses this by providing structure and methodology rather than just another blank canvas. You're not starting from scratch; you're following proven frameworks that guide the discovery process while still allowing flexibility for each organisation's unique context.

How to Try AIly

If your organisation is tackling AI or automation discovery and you recognise the scattered-documentation problem we had, we'd like to show you how AIly approaches it differently.

We're currently onboarding early clients to gather feedback as we refine the external offering.

Here's how it works:

  • Self-service discovery: Your team uses the AIly platform to map journeys, document pain points, and identify opportunities at your own pace.

  • Expert validation: SixPivot consultants review your inputs, provide strategic analysis, and deliver recommendations based on patterns we've identified across industries.

  • Collaborative refinement: You access your discovery work through an interactive interface where you can review, comment, and refine, all while maintaining a structured methodology proven on real consulting engagements.

This isn't another consulting engagement where we disappear for weeks and emerge with a static report. It's a platform that captures your organisational thinking and provides expert guidance to turn it into action.
